Jon Coxeter-Smith

Jon is a senior member of his profession, with more than 35 years in industry including 20 years as a Partner/ Company Director, and renowned global expert in the planning and delivery of the world’s leading sporting events. 

He is a specialist with almost 35-years’ experience in major sports events and venue projects around the world and has been instrumental in the bidding, planning and delivery of many of the world’s best-loved sporting events.

As a Principal, Jon has been privileged to be involved more than 25 major events over the past fifteen years; including 5 Olympic Games (Summer and Winter), 6 FIFA World Cups, World Championships, major regional single sport and multi-sport Games.

In 2011 Jon founded Sagacity to act as a capability builder, helping clients address the challenges faced in contemplating, planning and executing complex, ground-breaking programmes - such as the hosting of sports events or major venue projects - and equipping them to better perform the vital leadership role. 

For the past 5 years, working in partnership with Sportcal on the Global Sports Impact (GSI) project, Jon has been at the centre of the discussion about the impact of major sports events. 

GSI is creating objective standards to identify, measure and analyse the holistic impacts of sports events, so providing to sport, and all its stakeholders, a new, comprehensive and objective picture. 

Sportcal with Sagacity has developed a unique combination of data products, IT based tools and analytical and consultancy services to help sports federations, governments and cities to harness better information to sharpen and inform decision making 

Jon has travelled extensively throughout Europe, the Middle East, North and South Africa, Asia and the Americas advising and lecturing on the successful delivery of world events and venues, and sharing his experiences of working in international locations. 

He has contributed to many papers and publications addressing current practice in innovation, sustainability, planning, budgeting, finance and delivery of major venues and event projects.
