Yuko Mitsuya

FIBA Board Member and President Japan Basketball Association

Former volleyball player Yuko Mitsuya participated three times in the Universiade and was a member of the Japan women’s national volleyball team in 1979. She joined the Hitachi women’s volleyball team in 1981. Emerging as a key player for Hitachi and the national team, she contributed to winning the bronze medal at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games. After retirement, she taught at university before serving as Director of the Japan Professional Soccer League, Board Member of the Japan Volleyball Association, and President of Charle Co., Ltd.

At present, she holds various positions such as President of the Japan Basketball Association, Vice-Director of Tsukuba Sports Science Laboratory, Director of Fujimura Girls’ Junior and Senior High School, Visiting Professor at Tokyo Women’s College of Physical Education, Advisor of the Tokyo Organizing Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Council Member of the Japan Volleyball Association, Audit and Supervisory Board Member (outside) of ASICS Corporation, Director (outside) of Fujita Kanko Inc., Director (outside) of Paloma Co., Ltd., and President of Cipher, Inc.
