14:00 SESSION 14A: CLOSING KEYNOTE PRESENTATION: Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park - London 2012's Legacy story

Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is often described as the most successful example of Games legacy in the modern era. This presentation will describe the history of the site, the work undertaken to ‘build in’ legacy before the Games, rather than ‘bolt it on’ afterwards, the complexity of the transformation programme immediately after the 2012 Olympics and the scale of ambition that still remains for the years ahead. The session will cover the legacy uses of the sporting venues, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park itself and the housing and business districts that are being created alongside. This is the story about the delivery of London 2012’s legacy promise: a new city within inner London, built around world class sporting venues, helping regenerate some of the most deprived areas of the UK.

It was built by South Sumatera Provincial Government and developed with a far-sighted vision as the first international sports city in Southeast Asia, with the intention to become a major national sports tourism destination.
